Jay Shifman told me it’s impossible to be addicted to cannabis

Yes, that happened.

Before I go further, let me give you the back story of what happened. Earlier today I went on podcastsguests.com as I want to tap into other podcasts and get some speakers on that have following bigger than mine. One of the people I sent an “invite” to was Jay Shifman.

If you google Jay you will see he is a speaker, a storyteller and an advocate. He is also someone who is “ending the stigma and promoting honest and fact-based education on Mental Health, Substance Misuse & Recovery, Drug Use & Policy”. Interesting!

When I emailed Jay about being a guest on my podcast, I got this as a response:

Podcast E30: My story & future of mylastjoint.com

Hi everyone, this will be our last stop for the next few weeks. Seeing I have interviewed all these wonderful people and shared their stories, I thought it would be only fitting that I share my story and what the future of mylastjoint.com is like.

This episode concludes Season 1, where I got to talk with anonymous people all across the world about their marijuana use becoming problematic, their quitting process and other relevant topics. In Season 2, we will be taking a similar approach, however this time on the video.

Podcast E29: From anti-weed to daily smoking to quitting (and mushroom therapy)

Hey everyone, we are slowly waving goodbye to Season 1. This is the last episode before the finals and then we are moving to Season 2, where you will be able to watch interviews on the video.

In this episode, I sat down with a lady in her mid-30s. We discussed her beginnings with weed, her friends and parents influencing her, all the way to problematic use, where one has to smoke before any mild anxiety-inducing event. Our guest is a very knowledgeable person, she is training to be working in the field of counselling, specializing in severe trauma, anxiety and depression.

We also briefly talked about her use of shrooms, how they helped her overcome weed addiction and what the future is holding for psychedelics therapy.

Podcast E28: Functional stoner or marijuana addict?

Another day, another episode. I had the pleasure of chatting with a younger woman in her mid-20s. She made a post on Reddit and naturally I had to get in touch with her. We discussed her beginnings with weed, how she realized her use went out of control, her quitting strategy and relapses. We also talked about various stages of denial and how accepting the fact that you are an addict is an important step in any recovery from the substance.

Podcast E25: Smoking weed and chasing high for over 25 years (part 2)

Hello everyone, we are back with the second part of our recording. If you just tuned in, make sure you listen to the E24 first. In this part, our guest continued his story and shared some tips on how to stay sober. After trying to quit for years, he has now been sober for almost 600 days and is very active in the r/leaves community. All in all, I really enjoyed this recording and our guest, as it’s very relatable content to any hardcore stoners.

Podcast E24: Smoking weed and chasing high for over 25 years (part 1)

Hello everyone, we are back with another episode. In the following episode, I sat down with a 40s guy over in States, who is telling his story of how he was chasing the high for over 25 years. Starting with his first experience at Mcdonald’s and then picking up other drugs, to going back to weed and relentlessly abusing it, this episode is a great example and guide for anyone trying to quit marijuana. Some of the other topics we covered are the ritual of smoking, ADHD, the r/leaves subreddit and what really works when quitting weed.
